Foxball!

A 2D platformer game I made entirely within Unity, using hand-made assets and in-house materials. Everything within the game was created by me, from the sprites to scripts.

The project took around 3 months to complete and featured 3 levels as well as a tutorial. It is the best example of my personal charm as well as my most successful game in downloads, having around 100 total.

Inspiration

The game takes great inspiration of one of my favorite game franchises, Kirby. Most specifically, it takes inspiration from Kirby's Canvas Curse. When developing Foxball!, I took a lot of time on researching how these games work.

The hardests of challenges was designing a compelling level and enemies with the limited controls. Since the only player mechanic was drawing a line, it took some creative thinking on how figuring out how to progress this mechanic to keep the player engaged.

I found an effective method was to introduce more puzzle-like elements per enemy. For instance, the final boss requires you to use the line to trap him with his own bombs.
